Description
Contino Gran Reserva is a red wine that has been made from a majority percentage of Tempranillo, and a small amount of Graciano, Mazuela, and Garnacha.
These varieties have been selected from the best vineyards in the Laguardia area by the Bodega Viñedos del Contino winery of the CVNE group in the La Rioja region.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in 15 kg crates. The grapes are not only selected in the field, but also on arrival at the winery, with a selection table. Immediately after destemming, the grapes are fermented in concrete tanks and macerated for 15 to 20 days.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels. The wine is then transferred to French and American oak barrels for ageing for more than two years, followed by three years of bottle ageing in the cellars before being released onto the market.
Taste
Contino Gran Reserva has a high aromatic intensity and intermingles fruity, floral and herbal aromas. On the palate it is powerful but elegant, with a full, silky finish.
A classic red wine from La Rioja with a renewed style…
This exceptional wine comes from one of the most representative wineries of Spanish wines in general and Rioja wines in particular.
In the gastronomic area it goes perfectly with dishes such as roasts, beef, grilled red meats, roast red meats and meats with sauce, game, game with feathers, stews, Iberian acorn-fed ham, cured cheeses and sheep’s milk cheeses. It is also the ideal wine to accompany special occasions and a candlelit dinner.
