Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The wine that pretends to be the new Cható PQTA in its new location is the 2019 Fato, produced with 65% Callet, 20% Mantonegro and 15% Escursac grapes from organically farmed but not certified vines all on call vermell red clay and limestone soils. The different plots fermented separately in stainless steel or plastic bins with different percentages of full clusters, and the Escursac went through carbonic maceration and nothing was added along the process, even in the bottling. It has a Beaujolais profile, with notes of raspberries, orange peel, rose petals and herbs, primary and fruit-driven, juicy and balanced, approachable with fine-grained and chalky tannins and very tasty flavors. It matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for six months followed by a further three months in stainless steel. 1,800 bottles were filled in June 2020.
