Winemaking
Malolactic fermentation and ageing for 5 months in French oak barrels.
Description
Gómez Cruzado Vendimia Seleccionada is a medium-aged red wine made with equal parts Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes.
The Tempranillo grapes come from vineyards in the Sierra de Cantabria and the Garnacha grapes from the foothills of the Sierra de la Demanda, in the Alto Najerilla. These are vineyards with more than 30 years of average age in operation.
The soils of the Tempranillo vineyards have properties of clay-limestone soils and those of the Garnacha are clay-ferrous soils, reddish in color.
It is a wine that gastronomically is the perfect accompaniment to meals such as grilled pork, grilled red meats, big game and poultry.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in 200 kg boxes with the selection of clusters in the winery.
On arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo 3 days of cold pre-fermentation maceration, with daily pumping over and delestage during fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel truncated cone-shaped tanks.
Later, part of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 5 months, the rest rests in concrete tanks with its lees.
Taste
Gómez Cruzado Vendimia Seleccionada is a medium-bodied wine with very fine tannins, good acidity that makes it refreshing and a silky texture.
A very fruity and refreshing…
A red wine, easy to drink, with good depth and a good dose of complexity. The primary essence of the fruit has been maintained.
It is one of the best representatives of Rioja wine with a modern touch.
Try it, you will be surprised!
