Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The single-vineyard red 2019 Manda Huevos Tinto Caña Andrea was produced with a Garnacha field blend with some 10% other varieties, Moristel, Bobal and Garnacha Blanca. It comes from a 0.8-hectare plot planted in 1908 on a gentle slope at 750 meters in altitude in the village of Villarroya de la Sierra plus a newer and slightly flatter 0.7-hectare adjacent plot planted in 1970. They used 20% full clusters for the fermentation in an open-top fermenter and the élevage was in 875-liter Flextank eggs (except for one neutral 500-liter oak barrel). It has a bright ruby color and an expressive nose, good ripeness without excess, good freshness and a medium-bodied palate with abundant, chalky tannins. It’s perfumed, fine and aromatic. This is always produced with the same vineyards, which keep a stable profile of wine. 3,731 bottles were filled in May 2021.
