Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2019 Vidueño is a complex blend from two experimental plots planted between 10 and 20 years ago with more than 25 grape varieties from the islands—Malvasía Rosada, Negramoll, Vijariego Negro, Baboso Negro, Castellana Negra, Marmajuelo, Listán Negro, Gual, Verdello—90% red grapes and the rest whites, with only 11.5% alcohol. The full clusters fermented in a plastic bin with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in 228- and 500-liter oak barrels for 10 months. I love the nose of this 2019, a wine of great freshness with a very light extraction and an elegant, nuanced nose and very fine tannins. 900 bottles were filled in August 2020.
