Description
ROC is a crianza red wine made with the native Mencía grape variety by the Verónica Ortega winery in Valtuille de Abajo (León) D.O. Bierzo.
It is produced with Mencía grapes, which come from two vineyards over 80 years old, organically farmed and planted on sandy-clay soils with abundant minerality contained in small stones.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in 15 kg crates. Alcoholic fermentation has been carried out in a 5,000 litre vat, with 50% of the clusters whole in stainless steel tanks with a very gentle work.
The vinification process is carried out with the grapes being scraped to try to allow the spontaneous fermentation to take place slowly, and with it the extraction that takes place. Maceration takes approximately 20 days.
In the meantime, the wine is aged for 14 months in 228-litre French oak barrels of second and third use. In addition, the wine is lightly filtered to remove any coarse particles.
Taste
ROC is a red wine with fruity aromas and floral notes. On the palate it is expressive, voluminous and powerful. It is a smooth, deep wine, with special complexity, fine tannic structure and very good balance, made to last. It is splendid!
A powerful and structured red wine
ROC is a fine wine, with aromatic precision, made by the Verónica Ortega winery. It has been named ROC, as it represents the initials of Verónica’s elder brother’s name, thus paying homage to him.
This red wine is the ideal accompaniment for rice dishes with meat, sausages, grilled red meats and roasted red meats. You can also try it in business meals with roasts, kid and even dishes where cod is the protagonist.
And you, have you already tried this delicious red wine? Tell us what you think of it!
